Begun in fall 2010 as a way to help new international teaching  assistants acclimate to life on campus, the program has morphed into a  partnership between the International Student Services Office and the Office of Student Volunteerism that provides an immersive cultural experience to both domestic and international students. ]]></description>

The news program, 60 Minutes, recently  featured his experiences in a story focusing on why large Wall Street  banks have not been prosecuted under the Sarbanes-Oxley law. Bowen,  who also testified before a congressional commission and is now a  professor of accounting at UT Dallas, on Feb. 6 will offer a glimpse  behind the scenes of the troubled mortgage industry at the heart of the  nation's financial meltdown. ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ <img src='http://www.utdallas.edu/news/imgs/photos/brain-100--2012-2.jpg' class='img-left' alt='Brain Scan of Healthy Adult' /> Researchers from the Center for Vital Longevity at UT Dallas and UT Southwestern Medical Center have completed a  large-scale neuroimaging study of healthy adults that measured  beta-amyloid protein-a substance whose toxic buildup in the brain is a  diagnostic marker for Alzheimer's disease. The findings, published in the February 1, 2012, online issue of Neurology,  the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology, mark a  crucial step toward being able to predict who may be at risk for  developing Alzheimer's disease long before symptoms appear. ]]></description>

The next-generation system will be tested in selected summer and fall  classes in preparation for a campuswide rollout next spring."The new system is not going to be as much of a walled garden as now," said Dr. Darren Crone, UT Dallas eLearning director. "My nomination was from ACM Fellow, Dr Hong-Jiang Zhang, who manages  operations of Microsoft Research Asia in Beijing," Prabhakaran said. Curated by visual arts faculty member Lorraine Tady, the exhibit features both local and national artists who work directly with noise or frequency, examining what is heard or felt through sound waves, and some who work with images that suggest sound. Other artists in the exhibit anticipate our relationship to sound by addressing our expectations and cognitive reflexes. ]]></description>
